Colombo Fort tout selling confirmed reserved hill-train seats from a laminated folder — real desk or walk away?

Standing outside the station with a folder of printed seat maps, wants cash now for Kandy–Ella reserved seats tomorrow, says the counter queue is useless. Our app still shows waitlist. Is there any world where this is a legit helper, or do we only buy at the official counter / railway site and ignore the folder?

Buy reserved tickets only through official railway channels or the station counter. Platform folder sellers are not the booking office — cash-now stories thrive when apps show waitlists. You risk paying for seats that were never held, or getting ordinary unreserved paper dressed up as reserved. If seats appear, they appear on the official system; if not, consider another date, a bus, or unreserved with realistic expectations. Do not hand passport or large cash to a folder tout. Inside the station, follow signed counters and ignore laminated urgency.
