Only packed shorts. For a mid-morning Temple of the Tooth visit, buy a cheap wrap at a stall or use a hotel towel. Not the dusty-parade sarong reuse question, and not whether the temple is open at dawn.

Buy a light wrap or long skirt from a stall — towels look odd and slip. Cover knees and shoulders before you reach the entrance. Keep flip-flops easy to remove.
