Crow stole the toast off our Kandy lake cafe table — eat inside or just guard every plate outdoors?
Lakeside table, lovely view, buttered toast mid-air into a crow. Monkeys watching from the railing like understudies. Do outdoor cafes around the lake just expect you to hold the plate, or is indoor seating the only sane breakfast? Prefer not to feed the problem.

Outdoor lake tables train crows and monkeys fast. Hand on the plate, no unattended toast, and never feed them — feeding makes the next table worse. If the railing already has an audience, take indoor seating or a table with staff nearby. Bags zipped; sunglasses not on the cloth edge. This is different from forest-path monkeys at climb sites; it is cafe scavenging. Staff can shoo once, but your habits matter more. Finish drinks with lids if you have them.
Lost a bun, moved inside. View through the window still fine. Pride cheaper than another theft.
Indoor table tomorrow. Outdoor only if we order one plate at a time and hover like hawks.
Same crow energy at a Nuwara Eliya garden tea once. Guarded scones. Worked.
