Crowd on our block thinned for a while then suddenly packed again. Typical deep-mid surge when a denser section is near, or just a random crush wave. Not uphill thinner versus lake packed, and not sliding twenty metres for a better angle.

Deep mid often does that — a quieter gap, then a denser section arrives and the curb refills. Hold your spot if the street still fills between gaps. A random crush wave usually clears faster; a denser section stays loud and tight longer.
