'Short eats' at Sri Lankan bakeries (Perera & Sons, Fab, English Cake Shop) include: fish cutlet (breaded fish croquette), Chinese roll (spring-roll style), fish patty (curry-filled pastry), vegetable roti (curry-filled flatbread), egg roll, samosa, and various curry-filled buns. All 80-200 LKR each. Ubiquitous morning-and-evening snacks.

Order 3-5 per person for a light meal, pair with Ceylon tea. Fish cutlets and fish patties are the classics. Perera & Sons has consistent quality nationwide; smaller local bakeries may be fresher but variable. Great affordable option outside restaurant hours.
