Cyclone risk highest October-December (northeast monsoon transition), and April-May (southwest monsoon transition). East coast (Trincomalee to Batticaloa) most affected. Coastal properties usually resilient to typical cyclones; category 3+ storms rare but possible.

During any cyclone warning: stay indoors, don't drive coastal roads, top up water and phone charge, follow local advice. Government emergency system (SMS, radio) issues warnings 24-48 hours ahead. Tourism boards proactively cancel bookings for direct hits.
