We are in Kandy and this is eating the group chat. Dahawal Perahera is listed 2:18 PM on Friday 28 Aug. Festival ends after that. Bags packed, checkout 12, still see 2:18 PM. Partner says wait, I say move. Need a lived answer from someone who actually stood it, not a brochure.

Local from the lake side: listed 2:18 PM for Dahawal Perahera is when they start leaving the Maligawa, not when the tusker fills Heerassagala stay-and-tuk. Drums first, then dancers, then the heavy bit. If you want kerb, four is early-Kumbal sane and late-Randoli mandatory. Dahawal is the day procession at 2:18 PM, not a night replay. Kinder for kids and elders, harsher sun. No Saturday Kandy restart after it. An elder changes the trade.

We did 3rd Kumbal from a different corner and then Final Randoli from Heerassagala stay-and-tuk. Not the same night. Listed 6:43 PM and they were still lining up. We should have bought water before we sat. Bags change the trade — dump them.

If the elder already said no to standing, that is the answer. Pay a balcony or skip Dahawal Perahera and do Dahawal at 2:18 PM on the 28th in daylight. Pride is not a viewing plan. Then tea, then the room.
