Local from the lake side: listed 2:18 PM for Dahawal Perahera is when they start leaving the Maligawa, not when the tusker fills Cross Street pinch. Drums first, then dancers, then the heavy bit. If you want kerb, four is early-Kumbal sane and late-Randoli mandatory. Dahawal is the day procession at 2:18 PM, not a night replay. Kinder for kids and elders, harsher sun. No Saturday Kandy restart after it. Poncho in the daypack even if the sky looks smug.
We did 3rd Kumbal from a different corner and then Final Randoli from Cross Street pinch. Not the same night. Listed 6:43 PM and they were still lining up. We should have bought water before we sat. Shoes you can stand in, not the pretty pair.
If the elder already said no to standing, that is the answer. Pay a balcony or skip Dahawal Perahera and do Dahawal at 2:18 PM on the 28th in daylight. Pride is not a viewing plan. An elder changes the trade.
