Daughter 17 wants surf lesson in Weligama - reasonable to book without me?

Reasonable and common. Weligama surf schools have teenage students constantly (it's a major learn-to-surf destination). Choose a school with ISA-certified instructors (Ceylon Sliders, Lion's Rest, Weligama Bay Marriott Surf School). Group lessons 3-4 students + instructor is safer socially and instructionally than 1-on-1 (peer learning + more eyes). Cost 3500-6000 LKR per 2-hour lesson including board + rashguard. Weligama surf bay is genuinely beginner-safe (sand bottom, gentle break). She'll be fine and probably love it.
^ this. Also: many surf schools now have women-only sessions for teen/adult female beginners. Ask about that if she'd prefer. Weligama vibe is friendly, not intimidating. She'll come back stoked.
