Day boat to Nainativu from the Jaffna side — morning queue and seasickness, or skip and do Delft instead?
Two days in Jaffna. Want a temple island visit without turning it into a stressful logistics puzzle. Reading about crowded morning boats and choppy water. Is Nainativu still a straightforward day trip if we arrive early, or is Delft the calmer ferry choice for nervous sailors?

Nainativu (Nagadeepa) day boats from the Jaffna side are a normal pilgrimage and tourist run when you go early, travel light, and allow time for queues and the return. Water can be choppy — ginger chews, sit where spray is less, and follow crew life-jacket guidance. Delft is a different island experience (wider landscapes, longer day for many visitors) and can feel calmer for some travelers, but it is not automatically "easier" — check same-day boat realities locally. I will not invent ticket prices or exact departures. Ask your Jaffna guesthouse the evening before for the current jetty timing. Modest dress for the temple.
Nainativu morning boat: early queue, fine crossing, temple peaceful. Friend with seasickness preferred sitting mid-boat and looking at the horizon.
Choosing Nainativu tomorrow early with snacks and a scarf. Delft saved for a longer future trip.
Went years ago — go light, keep phone in a zip, follow the crowd back to the same jetty for return boats.
