Go late morning or early afternoon; showers do not close the temple and queues are often kinder than a hard clear spell.

We went in a light shower and the courtyard was quieter than the sunny days we tried last week; take it slow on the wet stone and you are fine.

Carry a light cover for shoulders after you leave shoes, and expect wet stone in the courtyards.
