I thought lentil curry was mild, but my last one burned. Is it usually made spicy.

Accepted Answer

Traditional Sri Lankan dhal lentil curry is universally considered the mildest, most comforting dish on the table. It is cooked slowly in rich, thick coconut milk with gentle spices like turmeric and mustard seeds. However, some local chefs will add a few whole green chilies or a sprinkle of black pepper for a tiny kick. If you have zero tolerance, just explicitly ask the waiter for a completely non spicy dhal, and it will be perfectly safe and creamy.
