Often both — after the first hour ears dull, and some curb angles hear quieter when denser blocks are still around the bend. Watch dancer density and torch heat rather than trusting “quieter equals almost over.” Stay if the street still fills between gaps.
Quieter drums do not mean Maligawa return is next — troupe mix is a better leftover cue.
If your stretch thinned and sound dropped, the loud mass may be on another face of the ring.
