Duruthu Perahera (Jan full moon) at Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara is a smaller, more intimate cousin of Kandy's Esala. 3 nights of processions culminating in the main perahera with elephants, dancers, fire torches. Fewer tourists, easier accommodation, more accessible. Perfect for January visitors.
