We are on the east coast, not in Kandy, and there is an amber sea warning toward Pottuvil. Skip the afternoon swim, or do operators still say it is fine.

If the amber warning is up, skip the swim; walk the shop street and sit under a cafe roof instead.

If the warning is up, skip. A cancelled swim is cheaper than a rough afternoon, and you can still sit under a cafe roof.

The guesthouse in Pottuvil told us to stay off the water this afternoon; we walked the shop street and left the bay alone.
