Elderly parent needs a proper sit after roughly two hours on the kerb. Hotel lobby chair and miss a stretch, or is a shaded step further back still respectful. Not elderly shutter lean, not knees on a shop pillar, and not a plastic stool fee.

A shaded step further back is fine if officers are not waving people up and you are not blocking a doorway. If they need a real chair and water, the hotel lobby is the respectful call — miss a stretch rather than push a fall. Agree who stays on the curb pin.
