A9 toward Jaffna, leftover caution in the back of the mind. Elephant Pass is the name everyone wants a photo of. Step out for five minutes from the tarmac, or keep the carriage moving because the clock is Vavuniya or Jaffna?

Keep it to a short look from the road if the driver is willing to pause on tarmac. Do not walk into scrub or lagoon edges for a better angle. Stick to the road, use a driver who knows. Five minutes, water, back in. If leftover heat is named or the elder is done, keep moving. The pass will still be there in the window.
