Exact closing date for Adams Peak 2026 season and is the path lit until then

The 2026 Adams Peak (Sri Pada) season closes officially on the Vesak Poya day (the full moon of May), which is the traditional closing pilgrimage night. After that the temple at the summit is closed for the off-season, the path lights are switched off, and most of the tea stalls along the route shut down. The path itself remains physically open year-round for those willing to climb in the dark with their own torch, but the experience is dramatically different: cold, foggy, often raining (southwest monsoon arriving), with no facilities. Until Vesak Poya night, the route is fully lit, tea stalls run all night, and crowds (especially on Poya weekends) are big. If you can fit it in BEFORE the closing Vesak weekend, do so; the closing night itself is an incredible pilgrimage atmosphere but exceptionally crowded.
