I'd like to improve my Sinhala or just have conversations. How do I find good local tutors or exchange partners?

Some guesthouses and cafes can connect you with local university students or teachers looking for language exchange. There are also Facebook groups and apps for language exchange in Sri Lanka. For more structured lessons, some cultural centers or private tutors advertise in tourist areas. Many travelers do informal exchanges — offering English conversation in return for Sinhala practice. It's often easiest to start through your guesthouse host or other travelers who have already found good contacts.

University students are often keen for conversation practice. Many guesthouses can make introductions if you ask.
