Wonderful, culturally rich experience. Options: (1) STILT FISHING at Weligama/Koggala/Ahangama — famous heritage practice (staged for tourists mainly, still educational), (2) Deep sea fishing charters with village fishermen (real work, longer trips), (3) Lagoon net fishing with Negombo or Batticaloa fishermen (early morning traditional net-throwing).
Village lagoon fishing (5-6am) most authentic — no charge but small tip and buy fish from them at end. Deep sea half-day USD 100-200 per boat (share with fishermen catch). Stilt fishing tourist visits at Ahangama, 500-1000 LKR photo tip is expected but the actual practice is largely for shows now.
