Accepted Answer

Operating drones over the Peak Wilderness Sanctuary requires four synchronized clearances: an MOD security clearance letter, CAA Sri Lanka Category B flight authorization, a research filming permit from the Department of Wildlife Conservation, and formal notification to the Sri Pada Temple Trust. Flight altitudes must remain below 120 meters AGL and cannot approach within 500 meters of the sacred summit platform. Flying without DWC authorization results in immediate confiscation of equipment and prosecution under the National Heritage Wilderness Act.

Extreme mountain wind shears over the high ridges can flip sub-2kg quadcopters; bring heavy enterprise airframes with active wind resistance up to 15 m/s.

High humidity and sudden cloud inversions drop radio transmission signals rapidly; set failsafe Return-To-Home (RTH) altitudes to clear high cloud forest canopies.

Raptors (such as Mountain Hawk-eagles) aggressively attack multirotors in this corridor; land immediately if large raptors begin circling above your drone.
