Sri Lankan forests have wild edible fruits: mangosteen relatives, wild jak (jackfruit), rambutan-relatives, palmyra fruit, kithul palm sugar, and various berries. NEVER forage without a knowledgeable local guide — several look-alikes are toxic.

Best foraging experiences: guided village walks, Sinharaja buffer zone with a naturalist. Palmyra fruit season (June-July) especially rich. Never take from trees marked as sacred or in monastic zones. Small tips to guides appreciated.
