Galle Fort, 2 Sep, leftover damp in the shaded lanes, sun on the wall. Partner wants the lighthouse stretch before lunch. Heat caution on the phone. Ordinary bags, one pair of sandals.

Wait until the wall is dull, then walk the inner path. Noon on Fort laterite in sandals is a clinic story plus heat. Amber is already off — that does not dry the shaded cobbles. Church Street shade, water, then the wall when it is not a frying pan. Nobody is closing the Fort. It is just noon.

We waited until three, walked the inside lane. Fine. Flip-flops at noon were a mistake.

Kids: skip the wall until it cools. Pride hurries a lighthouse photo and hops home on one foot.
