Landed later than planned. Diya Kapeema is listed 1:28 AM on Friday 28 Aug after Final Randoli. I keep reading it is not for tourists — still go quietly. Sit tonight from a bad angle or save the legs for a later night.

Do not treat 1:28 AM as a starter pistol. On Diya Kapeema they were still lining up at the temple end twenty-plus minutes later last year and the year before. Bring water, a cheap poncho, and a meeting pin that is not in the crush. Diya is a water-cutting ritual at 1:28 AM, not a second Grand Randoli. If you need sleep, skip it and do Dahawal at 2:18 PM. Do not invent a tourist ticket for it. Shoes you can stand in, not the pretty pair.

We day-tripped from Peradeniya, tuk to the last drop, walked to Queen's Hotel lake-side balcony. Fine for Final Randoli. I would not do that for Final — the walk back with a sleeping toddler was the actual problem. Then tea, then the room.

Drone: I would not. Even if nobody hands you a printed ban, flying over elephants and a relic casket is how you become the story. Phone from Queen's Hotel lake-side balcony is enough. Kids change the trade.
