Hire car, 1.3 litre, Katunayake to Kandy at 6. Driver of the hire desk said 95 only. Pump boards I screenshot last were 399 / 475 / 382. 1 Sep. I can hear the 95 upsell already.

92 at 399 is what most small hires run. 95 at 475 is a preference, not a law. Diesel 382 is for diesel. Watch the board, watch the nozzle. Desk '95 only' is a desk. If the car manual says 92, pay 399. Do not let Tuesday become a new number someone mutters.

Fill yourself. 'Full tank on return' is a separate honest conversation, not a fuel-grade myth.
