Galle Face at 6:30 for a jetlag walk — safe-ish with a camera or wait until proper morning

Cannot sleep. Hotel is 400m away. Camera. 1 Sep Tuesday. Partner asleep. I am the idiot considering a 6:30 walk in an hour-of-the-clock that is still basically night in my home country, but here it would be dawn-ish later... wait, I mean a first-light walk after a bit more lying down. Need a local, not a travel show.

First light on Galle Face is an ordinary Colombo walk. Keep the camera ordinary, bags zipped, do not flash rupees. I will not invent a 1 Sep incident. If you are wrecked, sleep. The green will still be there at 8 with kites and tea. 110/90 tuk back if the legs die.

We walked at 6:45, tea seller already working. Fine. Not empty, not a festival.

Pride goes to photograph fishermen like a set. They are working. Space.

If you cannot judge distance in jetlag, skip. Sleep is the attraction.

Galle Face at first light has tea. It is not empty and not a festival.

Passport in a zip, not in a hand while you bargain.
