Start at the 1873 Main Gate facing the cricket stadium, walking west along Sun, Moon, and Star Bastions to inspect the 17th-century coral-and-granite ramparts. Cut inward through Church Street to visit the 1755 Dutch Reformed Church (Groote Kerk) with its gravestone-paved floor and the National Maritime Archaeology Museum inside the Dutch warehouse. Return to the sea wall at Point Utrecht Bastion to view the 1938 white lighthouse, then stroll along the southern coastal ramparts to Flag Rock Bastion by 5:30 PM for sunset.

Admission to the fort ramparts and streets is completely free; only indoor museum collections require separate tickets.

Pedestrian street streets inside the fort host artisan gelato bars, boutique spice stores, and historic restored colonial boutique hotels.

Rampart surfaces have uneven flagstones and low parapets; supervise young children closely along unprotected 10-meter drops into the sea.
