If someone is being exceptionally aggressive, simply walking into one of the many cafes or boutique shops immediately diffuses the situation, as beggars will not follow tourists inside private businesses.

Do not engage in conversation or apologize excessively, as this is often seen as an opening to continue asking for money. Simply keep walking purposefully towards your destination.
