Guidebook ferry times were wrong and we are stranded at dusk — sleep near the jetty or hire inland?

Printed guidebook showed an evening ferry that does not exist anymore. We are at the jetty at dusk with bags, last scheduled boat gone, and the inland bus already finished. Sleep near the jetty guesthouses or hire a private ride inland tonight? Different from missing a bus after a late ferry — the timetable itself was wrong. Practical options only.

At dusk, prioritize a lit, lockable room near the jetty over improvising a long dark road hire unless you already have a trusted driver and clear price. Ask the jetty office or a nearby shop for the real last boat and for guesthouse names within walking distance. If you hire inland, agree the fare before bags go in and prefer sharing with other travelers when possible. I will not invent a night-hire tariff as gospel. Guidebooks lag; the board and locals beat printed times.
