Saturday 22 Aug, Galle Lighthouse. Harbour desk selling a sighting as if it were a ticket. If Pedlar Street is kinder, say so. Write the board, not a blog.

Read the harbour board. No whale is promised. August leftover chop is ordinary. If they sell a sighting as a ticket, walk. I will not invent a 22 Aug guarantee.

Inner path, closed shoes. Spray edge is how you meet the clinic.

If you sit a table, order. Occupying shade with a bottle you brought is the rude version. Fine.

Harbour board, no promise. We sat the bay instead. Fine.

We took the quieter fork. No one clapped. No gazette.

Muffs on the four-year-old. Ninety minutes. Then tea.

We walked. Fine. The first number at Galle Lighthouse was a test. Then tea.
