Hearing-impaired companion - stand where drums are softer but tusker still visible

Traveling with a hearing-impaired companion. Best place to stand so First Randoli drums are not painful but the tusker is still visible. Not buying adult ear protection and not toddler plugs.

Stand slightly back from the whip-cracker opening stretch on a wider corner — drums feel less harsh a little further from the front line while the tusker is still visible when that section approaches. Agree a hand signal for when to lift attention.
