Hidden temples and shrines near Ahangama.

A magnificent hidden gem is the Kataluwa Purvaramaya Temple located just inland from Ahangama. While not heavily advertised to tourists, it is an ancient Buddhist temple featuring some of the most beautifully preserved, vivid Kandyan era murals in the entire southern province. It is incredibly peaceful and historically profound.
