However, decades of ammonium sulfate applications and monsoonal leaching can drive soil pH below 4.0. In hyper-acidic soils, soluble aluminum ions (Al3+) reach toxic concentrations, inhibiting root-cell mitosis and stunting bush flush. Estates broadcast agricultural dolomite (magnesium calcium carbonate) at calibrated rates (500kg to 1 ton per hectare) after bush pruning to neutralize excess acidity and replenish vital magnesium for chlorophyll synthesis.
