Driver wants to write diesel into the day-hire as if it jumped overnight. Last card I saw was 382. 95 was 475, 92 was 399. 1 Sep 1am, we pick him up at 6 from Negombo toward Dambulla. I will not start a cultural-triangle day on a fictional pump.

Board is still 399 for 92, 475 for 95, 382 for auto diesel. Tuesday did not move it. Write the hire as a hire, fuel at the pump you both watch, or a day rate that already includes fuel. Do not let 'almost 500' become the first line. If he wants an estimate, use 382 and the kilometres, not a story.

We filled at a Katunayake pump yesterday. 382 on the board. Photo it if you must.

Pride argues fuel for twenty minutes and leaves at 7. The stones at Sigiriya do not wait.

Agree the day rate before 6am. Fuel argument at the kerb is how you lose the cool hours.

We waited, drank tea, went later. Fine. Nobody gave us a medal.

Elder sat. The rest of us stood and that was the whole compromise.
