Sri Lanka has been recognized as malaria-free for years; routine malaria prophylaxis is not what most short-stay tourists need for typical south-coast and hill itineraries. Dengue is the mosquito-borne disease visitors should take seriously — day-biting Aedes, repellent, covered water, nets where offered. That said, I am not your physician: if you are pregnant, immunocompromised, coming from a special exposure context, or your GP knows something about your route I do not, call them or a travel clinic before discarding medicine. Do not start or stop prescription drugs on forum vibes alone. Pack repellent either way.
