Hotel overbooking scams are unfortunately very common in Ella during the peak winter tourist season. Small greedy guesthouses often list their rooms on multiple platforms and will maliciously cancel your booking upon arrival if a walk in tourist offers them a higher cash price on the spot.
Booking highly rated established properties rather than brand new unreviewed guesthouses significantly drastically reduces this risk as they care deeply about protecting their online reputation.
To totally prevent this you must explicitly message the hotel through the booking platform a few days before your arrival to firmly reconfirm your reservation and state your exact arrival time.
