Hotel minibar charged us for sealed water bottles we brought in our own backpack — fight it at checkout?

Coastal hotel. We put our supermarket water in the fridge shelf because the room fridge was empty looking. Checkout bill shows minibar water lines. Bottles still have the shop sticker, not the hotel band. Desk says anything in the fridge is minibar. Do people photograph fridges on arrival, or just pay to leave faster?

Photograph the minibar and fridge on arrival — empty shelves and price card if any. Your own sealed shop bottles with stickers are not automatically hotel stock; calm checkout with photos usually clears it. If the desk digs in, ask for a manager and keep voices low. Next time store personal water on the desk, not on priced shelves. I will not invent a standard dispute credit. Paper and photos beat a raised voice.

Arrival photo saved me once on fake "opened" nuts. Desk removed the water lines in under two minutes.

Showed the supermarket sticker and the arrival photo. Charges removed. Storing water on the desk from now on.
