I want to see blue whales but I am worried about boats chasing the animals. Are there specific operators that follow conservation guidelines.

Look for operators that are members of the World Cetacean Alliance. Ethical boats will never approach a whale closer than one hundred meters and will cut their engines if a whale approaches them. Avoid the cheapest street vendors and instead book with companies like Raja and the Whales who have naturalists on board to educate guests. This ensures the animals are not stressed by overcrowding.

If you see more than three boats surrounding one whale, that is a sign of poor practice. Responsible captains will move away to find other individuals to ensure the whales can surface and breathe without interference.
