Hate standing in heat. Planning Talawakele tomorrow. Dawn, mid-morning, or is afternoon quieter?

For Talawakele, early is calmer and cooler. Midday queues + heat are miserable. If you can't do dawn, go late afternoon and accept softer light / fewer 'perfect' photos.

Got there mid-morning once and melted in line. Next time we aimed for opening and it felt like a different place.

If you're tired, stay nearer the bus stand / town centre in Talawakele and skip chasing a perfect sunset. Pull cash in Colombo, Kandy, or Galle first — cards are a maybe. Locals will tell you if a ticket is counter-only.
