How do I take the sea train from Colombo to Mount Lavinia?

You can take any train heading toward Kalutara, Galle, or Matara from Colombo Fort, usually departing from platforms 4 or 5. A second class ticket to Mount Lavinia is very affordable. Sit on the right side of the train when heading south to be literally meters away from the Indian Ocean waves. The best time for this ride is late afternoon around 5:00 PM.
