The Mahaweli Maha Seya is a massive, stunning white stupa built overlooking the Kotmale reservoir. It is fully open to the public and is incredibly peaceful, as it sees very few international tourists.

You can easily reach it by hiring a tuk tuk from the nearby towns of Nawalapitiya or Kotmale. The drive up the winding hill roads offers spectacular panoramic views of the dam and the lush green valleys below.
