Wanted to day-trip Delft for the wild ponies. Hearing the dry spell is bad enough that the Navy is hauling water for them. Is it awkward or unkind to visit as a tourist right now, or still fine if we stay respectful.

Dry weather is stressing the ponies - Navy has been supplying water. Go only with a guide who keeps distance and does not chase animals for photos.

Worth it if you treat it as a quiet nature stop, not a petting zoo. Carry your own water and do not offer random food.

If your operator sounds casual about crowding the herds, pick another day trip. The island is fine; the ethics are on how you behave.
