Is fresh seafood thinner than usual this year or just restaurant talk

Coast menus feel pricier and thinner on fish than our last trip. Waiters blame the catch. Is there a real harvest decline story this year, or classic tourist upsell.

NARA has been flagging a gradual fish-harvest decline for years, not just one bad week. Thinner menus can be real - still compare two places before you pay a panic price.

Ask what came in that morning. If they shrug, order inland curry instead of forcing seafood.

Decline talk is not a scam by itself, but beach touts will amplify it. Walk one street inland for saner plates.
