Trying not to overstuff the trip. Keep seeing Gampola on blogs. Skip or keep?

For a first trip, one night in Gampola is enough if you're mainly passing through; two if the area is the point (walkable town, early start, or a park gate). Don't collect stamps — collect sane days.

We gave Gampola two nights once and used the second morning properly. One night felt like unpack/repack.

If you're tired, stay nearer the bus stand / town centre in Gampola and skip chasing a perfect sunset. Pull cash in Colombo, Kandy, or Galle first — cards are a maybe. Locals will tell you if a ticket is counter-only.
