Is it illegal to take seashells or ancient antiques out of the country.
We bought some beautiful old wooden masks. Will airport customs confiscate them.

The national government strictly universally officially prohibits the commercial or casual export of any completely raw natural shells dead coral pieces or protected endemic local flora specifically to perfectly flawlessly preserve the fragile coastal ecosystems.
If the strict airport customs officers genuinely highly suspect your souvenir is a deeply valuable smuggled ancient national treasure they will absolutely definitively instantly securely confiscate it completely until you formally mathematically prove its modern commercial origin.
Regarding the wooden masks newly carved souvenirs are perfectly completely completely fine to pack. However any deeply historic genuine antique item officially dating back over fifty strictly verified years legally requires a highly specific special export permit directly from the National Department of Archaeology.
