I cannot handle hot chili. Will I struggle to find mild local food during my trip.

Traditional Sri Lankan food is heavily spiced and naturally very hot. However, restaurants in tourist areas are very accustomed to foreigners. Just firmly ask for "no spicy" when ordering, and they will happily prepare a mild, coconut milk based version for you.
