We rolled into Jaffna after the A9 with an elder who already used up the patience budget. The Dutch walls look close on the map. In this dry-zone glare do we actually walk the rampart loop, or sit the gate courtyard, drink water, and call the fort done? Ordinary bags, no drone, 19 Aug pin.

Walk the rampart if the elder still has legs and you keep it to shade pauses. The gate courtyard is a rest, not a substitute if you came for the walls. Hats, water, shoes you can stand in. Do not invent a ticket story at a side door. Ask the gate what they actually check, then go in or sit tea. Noon glare on those walls is a tax.

We did a slow half-loop and sat the courtyard when the glare turned stupid. Fine. The full circuit is pride.
