Jaffna Keerimalai Sacred Water Spring: mineral pool bathing and Naguleswaram temple history?

Keerimalai Sacred Water Spring, situated on the northern coast of the Jaffna peninsula, is an ancient natural freshwater spring located mere meters from the ocean waves. The spring water emerges through underground subterranean caves in the porous Miocene limestone bedrock, dissolving therapeutic minerals including calcium, magnesium, and sulfur. The pool is enclosed within a stone masonry bathing tank separated into male and female sections, separated from the open sea by a stone sea wall. Hindu pilgrims take purification baths here during Aadi Amavasai to perform ancestral rituals before worshipping at the adjacent ancient Naguleswaram Kovil.
