Nallur Kandaswamy Kovil is the premier Hindu religious center of the northern peninsula. Six daily poojas are held, with the most vibrant services at 4:30 PM and 5:00 PM. Strict traditional dress codes are strictly enforced: men must remove their shirts and vests completely before entering, remaining bare-chested with trousers or a traditional white veshti/verti. Women must wear long saris, shalwar kameez, or modest dresses covering shoulders and ankles. All footwear must be deposited at the outer gate shoe deposit stall.
