Mining targets high-purity (97-99% C) vertical hydrothermal graphite veins injected into Precambrian Highland Complex gneiss. Extraction uses narrow vertical shafts and horizontal stopes supported by heavy jungle timber cribbing (Halmilla or Kumbuk). Because graphite has a slippery, lubricating crystal cleavage, vein walls slide easily; miners install tight timber sets and rock bolts to prevent wall spalling during blasting.
